Arisaka Type 99 Serial Numbers List
Type 99 Arisaka Serial Numbers
Hello,
I recently acquired a Type 38 (SN # 1,51x,xxx) made at the Tokyo arsenal with intact mum and dust cover. Little rust on the exterior of the rifle but bore appears to be tomato stakish, but I haven't run a patch down it. Now for the questions
1) to the right of the arsenal mark there appears to be 2 small marks. what do these denote? (I need to get ahold of a magnifying glass and see what the characters are)
2) The stock has a 30/200 painted on it. what does this denote?
3) The bolt and bayonnete lug have matching numbers but do not match the last three of the serial number. Does this mean the rifle is not in its original configuration?
4) Based on the serial number is there a way to approximate when this rifle was produced?
Thanks for all the help.
Sincerely,
Blackjaw
